VACCUM BRAZING

Vacuum brazing is a joining process and not a heat treatment process per se, although it requires the controlled vacuum application of thermal energy in order to get perfect brazing results. Brazing takes place in vacuum between material of same or dissimilar composition. It is achieved, with both assembled parts and the Brazing Filler Metal (BFM) are heated to a temperature high enough to melt the filler metal but not the base metal  is distributed between closely fitted surfaces by capillary action.

Vacuum Brazing is far superior to Conventional Brazing

  • Extremely clean
  • Flux-free braze joints with high integrity and superior strength
  • Improved temperature uniformity
  • Lower residual stresses owing to slow heating and cooling cycle, resulting in dramatically improved mechanical and thermal properties of the material
  • Age hardening or hardening heat treatment of the work piece is part of the metal-joining process, but all in a single furnace cycle

APPLICATIONS

We perform vacuum brazing services for a diverse array of applications, including sensors, detectors, cathodes, cold plates, heat exchangers, and biomedical assemblies. Materials joined include titanium, copper, stainless steel, ceramics, aluminum, steel, tungsten carbide, and tungsten.
